Das schwedische Duo Degrees, das aus den dunkelsten Wäldern Schwedens stammt, meldet sich nach über 10 Jahren mit einem neuen Album zurück. Mikael Jakobsson (Svart Elefant, Animal Kix) und Rickard Folke (Boygirlme, L’obscurité, Blah!) nahmen 2012 die Songs ihres fünften Albums “Pt. V” auf, das aber nie fertig war, bis sie 2023 beschlossen, endlich ihren letzten Albu zu veröffentlichen
Mit ihrer Liebe zu fesselnden Melodien und sanften Synthesizern machen Degrees dort weiter, wo sie aufgehört haben. Epische, poetische Melancholie mit schwelgenden Pop-Rhythmen, angereichert mit ein wenig Drive aus dem Synthpop der frühen 80er Jahre und modernem Shoegaze.

Alle Songs auf “Pt. V” wurden von Degrees 2012 geschrieben, aufgenommen, gemischt und aufgeführt. Das Album wurde in den TS-Musix Studios in Leipzig gemastert und ist in allen großen Download-Stores, Streaming-Diensten und auf der Bandcamp-Seite der Band erhältlich.
Review
Viele Jahre lang lagen die Songs zu “Pt. V” unvollendet in einer Schublade. Doch nun meldet sich das schwedische Synthie-Pop-Duo nach gut zehn Jahren zurück und veröffentlicht sein letztes Album. Neun Songs wurden von Mikael Jakobsson und Rickard Folke wieder herausgebracht. Ich würde sagen, dass sich der Aufwand gelohnt hat, denn sie waren alle wirklich erfolgreich.
Die ersten Töne von “You Don’t Know What Love Is” klingen sehr leise. Es beginnt mit sanfter Klangkunst auf Synthesizern und steigert sich langsam mit weiteren Klangfacetten. Sanft beginnt ein sanfter Gesang und rundet den Song ab. Ein netter Einstieg, der das Album ruhiger wirken lässt, als es tatsächlich ist.
Nach einem guten Start kommt “Sake Sake Sake Sake” energischer auf den Punkt. Ein lebhafter Midtempo-Song mit einer sehr einprägsamen Melodie, die einen subtil vorantreibt.
Wer es etwas verträumter mag, dem sei “Florida” wärmstens empfohlen, denn der Song macht seinem Titel alle Ehre. Wie die Wellen des Meeres auf und ab anschwellend, zieht die Synthese einen in den Song hinein. An sich ist es eher ein ruhiges Stück, perfekt, um an einem Sommertag von der Küste zu träumen.
“A Mittle Top Wave” bringt dich zurück und gibt dir ein richtig gutes Gefühl. Es bewegt sich mutig vorwärts mit treibendem Sound und lässigen Texten. Obwohl es der kürzeste Song des Albums ist, gefällt er mir persönlich am besten.
Den letzten Song mit einer Länge von über sieben Minuten haben die Jungs sehr genossen. Ein Wechsel zwischen instrumentalen Passagen und solchen, in denen der Gesang im Vordergrund steht, machen den Song zu einer reizvollen Mischung.
Die Abschlüsse haben sich mit “Pt V” einen attraktiven Abschluss gegeben. Die Songs versprühen einen leichten 80er-Jahre-Charme, den ich sehr mag. Und obwohl die Songs teilweise recht leise sind, werden sie nie stimmlos, sondern geben uns ein wenig Entspannung in dieser ohnehin schon turbulenten Welt.

BlackieBlueBird are the vocalist Heidi Lindahl and the composer Nils Lassen; together they create delicate torch songs of reverb and echo that captivate the listener with resonating guitars, wailing harmonicas, maudlin mandolins and a choir of lonely mermaids that sporadically embraces Heidi’s golden voice. The echoes of love and longing, hellos and deceiving goodbyes live within her unique and clear vibrato.
BlackieBlueBird are now back with their third album “Grace & Gravity” leveraging the dreamy romanticism by adding drums to their soundscapes, while maintaining the melancholy of their first works. The renowned Danish drummer Tomas Ortved (Sort Sol) is the man behind the kit.
Lead by the delicate and enchanting voice of Heidi Lindahl “Grace & Gravity” comprises 10 songs of desire, love, life, and losses written by the experienced composer Nils Lassen.
The duo received great reviews worldwide for their albums “Ghost River” and ‘Goodbye in July, where their sound has been compared to Nick Cave’s “Murder Ballads” and Enya.
All songs are written and produced by Nils Lassen. The album is a cooperation among T&E Records and Aenaos Records. “Grace & Gravity” was released as a download on 22nd of September 2023.

And The Broken released new download single “Puttin’ Out Fires (HURT)
The Swedish Indie band And the Broken (Tobias, Conny and Måns of Emerald Park plus Linus Lindvall and Johan Hellsten) just released their next single in a series of outputs heading towards the first full-length album. The final chapter, if you will, in the first era of AND THE BROKEN. More guitars, heavier, harder, angrier and more frustration.
“Puttin’ Out Fires” is the sixth and final release in the “Panther”-series. The final chapter, if you will, in the first era of And The Broken. The previous releases have flirted with both Byrdsian power-pop and 80’s post-punk. “Puttin’ Out Fires” moves towards late 90’s Blur via Scary Monsters-era Bowie; someone thought that frontman Tobias sounded like the singer of Xiu Xiu. The riffing from guitarists Johan and Linus draw on equal proportions of Robert Fripp and Keith Richards. Unrestricted noise making-galore. Loads of energy, frustration and, as always sugar coated melodies and angelic vocal arrangements.

Emerald Park released new single “Night Away”
EMERALD PARK is a Swedish indie pop band that has been making waves in the indie scene since 2004. Their new single, “Night Away” shows off their signature sound: indie pop with a hint of rock and a touch of synth.
Night Away is the sophomore single from the upcoming album “Lovers in Reverse”. As the first single “Little Things” the song focuses on the electronic, quite slow beat. Working on the song Emerald Park called it “sedated dance”.
“Night Away” brings us back to the eighties with the synth beat and the steady bass.
