Long time no see?

Btw, if you missed it, AT LAST – the new single FLY AWAY WITH ME is just out with SJÖBLOM.

The first single from the new album which is released in October. Pretty much dark fresh indie/britpop!

Sjöblom was formed by Johan Sjöblom Eliot in 2016 in Stockholm. Besides being a member of Swedish post-punk band The Exploding Boy, he also played earlier in the indie pop band Prune and the indie rock band Fake Moss.

In order to shorten the waiting time for the new album a bit, we invited them to our sofa. Have fun! Maybe now you will get some answers to the questions you always wanted to ask:-)

Where are you and what are the vibes like?

J: -I’m in the garden on a chair enjoying the sun. The vibes are great, thanks!

R: -At football practice with my son. It’s a very nice and relaxing evening.

What was the last thing you ate?

J: – I ate some spaghetti-leftovers from yesterday. It was yummy!

R: -I had a knäckebröd (typically swedish very hard bread). After practice it will be spaghetti leftovers from yesterday, haha.

What was the last good book you read?

J: -I haven’t actually read in years, haven’t found any time. I can’t even remember a great book…

R: -“Ministry” a biography by Al Jourgensen.

Favourite political figure?

J: -I like some, but not as much that I want to tell people about it!

R: -Haven’t really thought about a favorite person. Maybe Olof Palme?

What TV Shows do you try not to miss?

J: -There’s loads, Right now I am watching Shogun and Bay.

R: -The never ending story of “The curse of Oak Island”

What sports are you good at?

J: -I used to be good at long jump, but nowadays I don’t think I am any good at any sports. But it is ok!

R: -I practiced regularly tennis and table tennis when I was young. I play some table tennis for fun nowadays, and I’m quite good at it still.

Which public figures do you most despise?

J: -There’s a couple of world leaders I don’t like, and maybe a future leader as well…

R: -Yes, I guess the same answer as Johan. There are some dark clouds in the future and present that’s for sure.

Favourite cities?

J: – I like NY, Reykjavik, Zürich and a lot of German cities a lot!

R: -Berlin, NY, Barcelona…and Stockholm of course.

Most embarrassing records in your collection?

J: -Can’t think of any, if you don’t mean Embarrassing GOOD ones!!!

R: -I’m think I’m past that embarrassing phase. I’m very opened minded regarding music.

Punchline to fave joke?

J: -Whats the biggest animal in the jungle? En orm!!! (It is more fun in Swedish..)

R: -I’m terrible at remembering good jokes…

Favourite journeys?

J: -Every tour

R: -Love every journey, last summer we went to Algarve in Portugal for instance, that was great.

Name three great songwriting partnerships?

J: -Sjöblom/Eklind – Lennon/McCartney and Pet shop boys.

R: -Yeah, me and Johan are the best, haha. And Gerrard/Perry and Reid/Reid for instance.

Worst lyric you´ve ever heard? 


J: -Too political and too happy lyrics!

R: -“Tequila” by the Champs. Or no, it’s actually genius.

Favourite historical characters?

J: -I like Oscar Wilde and Beethoven

R: -I don’t know really, maybe Alexander the Great and Einstein

Who´s overrated? 


J: -Most of the famous people today!

R: -Reality show people

Who´s underrated?

J: -SJÖBLOM of course! How big we will ever get, we’ll always be underrated!

R: -All those people that works with helping other people, like nurses and teachers and so.

What scares you?

J: -Everything really!

R: -Fascists

What bores you?

J: -Everything really!

R: -Things I don’t find interesting

Can you quote a line of poetry?

J: -“Please, please, please, let me get what I want. Lord knows it will be the first time!”

R: -“I hear the roar of a big machine. Two worlds and in between”

Where would you like to retire to?

J: -Carmen bar in Stockholm

R: -I join Johan for a beer.

Name a song that can make you cry?

J: -Set fire to the rain with Adele

R: -“Sorrow” with The National

When were you last drunk?

J: -I’m taking it pretty easy nowadays, but when we got the record contract for this new album, me and Rob drank beer and I was not sober at all!

R: -Oh, I think it was a couple of weeks ago when I was DJn at Synth Afterwork. Too many free drinks you know.

What was the last dream you can remember?

J: -Nowadys my dreams are totally abstract with feeling and colors, so they are impossible to describe… I don’t know what they mean…!

R: -Don’t remember, I hardly never remember dreams when I wake up.

Three records guaranteed to make you dance?

J: -Oasis, Gorillaz and Depeche Mode

R: -All the older Depeche Mode albums for sure. But there are plenty more.

What can you cook?

J: -Everything!

R: -I’m good at pastas generally, but yesterday I made a really nice fish soup.

Where do you go to chill out?

J: -To the sofa. When you have a house, 2 bands, a real job and 2 kids, you’ll never have time to sit in the sofa!

R: -Oh, yes, my sofa

What was the last great record you heard?

J: -On the turntable right is… The Idiot with Iggy Pop.

R: -Just a moment ago I listen to the master peace “Too Dark Park” with Skinny Puppy
