Massive Ego return with the 5 track EP „The New Normal“. The new songs play to the bands’ strengths of what made their first album ‚Beautiful Suicide’, a fan favourite. A return to form, characterised by catchy synth-pop melodies, and darker 80’s influences. „You Will Comply“ comment’s on a pandemic weary society. „Fake Star“ reflects on an ever-changing night sky where there are now more satellites in the sky than real stars. „Dead Eyes“ brings the tempo back to the dance floor, with pulsating beats and lyrics that guide the listener down a solitary road of self-destruction. „The Vampires Wife“ gothic undertones exemplifies the eclectic nature of this EP, and „Not Without Consequence“ delivers an acidic vocal delivery alongside harder beats. Massive Ego has already begun working on a new album for 2022 with a new line-up and a
returning familiar face in the form of Lloyd Price who was a major contributor to the sound and production of their first album on Out of Line and biggest club hit ‘I Idolize You’. A fourth new member in the shape of Porl Young comes with a healthy goth-pop history behind him
as an ex-member of the 90’s UK goth band Rosetta Stone, and guest appearances on tracks by The Mission, bringing a guitar element to the Massive Ego sound ahead of a string of festival appearances in 2022 including…

Plage Noire – Germany 6-7th May
Out of Line Weekender – Germany 12-14th May
Castle Party – Poland 8-10th July

Alongside other European festivals to be announced and a European tour later in the year.

Massive Ego return to their synth-pop roots for the new single Dead Eyes Black. Jolting and pulsating
electronics guide the listener down a solitary road of self-destruction, revisiting a familiar dark subject matter for
the band, but released just before Christmas there’s no festive cheer or mulled wine to be found in Marc
Massive’s lyrics on this occasion.

”It’s a dark single for sure, but in some respects, it’s perfect for the festive season. Not everyone can feel joyous
and live up to the expectation to have a good time, which often ends up resulting in the opposite and
depression and dark thoughts can quickly take over. The song represents this, and whilst you can try and
swerve a friend away from the black dog it’s often visible when looking into their eyes. You see a kind of dead
and hollow blackness staring back at you ”. Marc Massive – Singer.

With an equally dark and nightmarish vision directed by video visual artist Javier Gallego Escutia.
The song follows the previous recent Massive Ego single ‘You Will Comply’ which proved fairly controversial,
with some people questioning whether it was pro or anti-vaccine.

“It certainly wasn’t anti-vac, instead it asked that we remember to question authority instead of being silenced
for fear of being coined ‘tin foil hat wearers’ and being shut down by a public that’s quick to jump on those who
speak up in today’s Cancel Culture. The lyrics are ambiguous to open dialogue, and not just accept being under
the rule of corrupt Governments, the powerful and global pharmaceutical companies”. Marc Massive – Singer.

These new songs from the forthcoming EP were written during a challenging period of flux in the band’s line-up,
reflecting and mirroring bigger changes in the world due to the pandemic and Brexit.
“After 26 years, you’re always going to have band members come and go. Relationships change, people want
different things and some have their own agendas. We’ve been through a line-up change twice now in a matter
of months, but we’re coming out the other side. We’re excited to embark on the next phase and look forward to
adapting, standing still is boring”. Oliver Frost – Drummer.

To that end, the band begin writing a new album with the new members. A returning familiar face in the form of Lloyd Price who was a major contributor to the sound and production of the ‘Beautiful Suicide’ album, and the mix of ‘I Idolize.
You’ that became the dance floor club smash hit that it is. A fourth new member will be announced shortly. Someone who already has a healthy goth-pop history behind him who will bring a new element to the Massive Ego sound.
“I can’t wait to start writing, a lot has happened lately which is a perfect stimulus for lyrical content, as a writer, there’s nothing worse than writer’s block and not being able to find a subject matter to base a song on. Equally, we’re looking
forward to putting the new live band together in readiness for some big festivals and possibly our own tour again late 2022”. Marc Massive – Singer.
